In this video Coach Carl breaks down the progression for the Strict Handstand Push Up without using a kip. The progression for this is similar to the kipping version, but instead of using your hips as an assistance to initiate the movement Carl uses gravity by falling at a small angle from the headstand. Being able to use gravity and controlling the fall, then balancing and recovering to a fully inverted position during the press-out is the skill portion of this strength-dominant movement.
