Kenyan police clash with protesters in Nairobi

Pro and anti-government protesters clashed on Tuesday (July 23) morning in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, and were dispersed by police teargas. Businesses were closed, as police guarded key points, including parliament. Kenya’s president William Ruto reinstated several cabinet members on Friday (July 19) after he had dismissed them a week ago. This to form a new government that he said would respond to the grievances of the protesters. Kenya has submitted an economic repair plan to the International Monetary Fund and it expects the fund’s board to review it for approval at a meeting at the end of August, the country’s chief minister has said.
