Bausatzbesprechung: AK/ICM Unimog 404 “Europe & Africa“ im Maßstab 1/35

Normalerweise sind Reboxings unter Modellbauern eher verpönt, besonders dann, wenn der jeweilige Bausatz ohnehin gerade gut verfügbar ist. Warum sich nicht einfach den originalen Unimog von ICM holen anstatt des Bausatzes von AK Interactive? Preislich ist ja kaum ein Unterschied, oder?! Nun, hier lohnt sich ein genauer Blick in die Schachtel. Der Grundbausatz von ICM ist wirklich sehr gelungen und wartet mit tollen Details und durchdachtem Design auf. Erfahrungsgemäß ist auch die Passgenauigkeit bei den neueren ICM Bausätzen prima. Leider sind die Reifen des Unimog etwas zu klein geraten, was neben einigen weiteren Kleinigkeiten das Hauptproblem darstellt. Hier kommt AK Interactive ins Spiel. Dem Bausatz liegt nämlich ein hervorragender Satz neuer Resinreifen bei, welche toll detailiert sind und vor allem die korrekte Größe aufweisen. Weiterhin finden sich einige 3D gedruckte Bauteile, welche hauptsächlich für ein Maschinengewehr und die dazugehörige Lafette gedacht sind, sowie ein großer Abziehbilderbogen für 8 zivile und militärische Varianten. Das kann sich sehen lassen und stellt eine nützliche Verbesserung gegenüber dem ICM Bausatz dar. Für einen sehr geringen Aufpreis von ca. 5€ gegenüber dem Original von ICM bekommen wir von AK Interactive für 37€ die Vollausstattung. Daher würde ich jedem Modellbauer, welcher sich für einen Unimog-Bausatz interessiert, zur Ausführung von AK raten. Why not simply by the original Unimog kit by ICM instead of getting the reboxing by AK Interactive? The price tag is nearly identical, right?! Well, in this case it is worthwhile to have a look inside the box and compare it. The kit by ICM is really nice and comes with lovely details and a sophisticated layout. According to my previous experience with the newer ICM kits the parts fit together really well. Unfortunately the tires of the Unimog turned out a bit too small, which is probably the main problem with this kit besides a few other minor issues. Here AK Interactive comes into play. They added an excellent set of resin tires, which are well detailed and have the correct size. furthermore we get a couple of 3D printed parts, which are mostly meant for the machine gun and its pintle mount, as well as a big decal sheet for 8 civilian and military variants. This is really impressive and is definately a big improvement in comparison with the ICM kit. For a small amount of extra oney, roughly 5€ in comparison with the original by ICM, AK Interactive provides us the all-round-care-free package for 37€. Therefore i recommend to every modeller, who is interested in an Unimog kit, to go for the AK variant.
