Great-grandfather’s hut in the forest. Nobody lived there for half a century. Bushcraft shelter.

In this film, you will see an old house built by my great-grandfather in 1939, located far in the mountains in the forests of the Carpathians, Ukraine. These types of houses were built by our great-grandfathers far from settlements. This territory and houses were built by the “Boyki“ ethnic group, to which I myself belong (the author of the film). The video was shot in the spring of 2023 and everything that was shown is real and true. The house was intended for shepherds, cattle, horses, sheep, goats and served as protection from predatory animals such as: wolf, bear. Such forest houses are specific in that they do not have a chimney on the roof, instead, the chimney is located in the middle of the house and arranged in such a way that the smoke is not visible from afar, it works and I showed it in the video. The house itself consists of four rooms, a shepherd’s room, a corridor, a room for cattle and a room for horses. Shepherds and members of their families stayed here for 5-6 month
