Showrunners Exit The Rings of Power Amid Writers Strike What It Means for Season 2
The second season of Amazon’s epic fantasy series The Rings of Power is facing a major challenge as the showrunners Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne have left the production due to the ongoing writers strike. The strike, which began on Oct. 1, has affected thousands of writers across the film and television industry, who are demanding better pay, working conditions and creative rights from the major studios.
McKay and Payne, who are both members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA), announced their departure in a statement on Monday, saying they “fully support“ their fellow writers and hope for a swift resolution to the conflict.
