Qingdao-Henan Electric Transmission Project starts in Hainan, Qinghai Province, China, and ends in Zhumadian, Henan Province, China. It passes through Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Henan provinces. The total length of the line is 1,563 kilometers, and the dynamic investment is approximately 23.1 billion yuan. It is China’s first EHV channel specially build for clean energy output and is also the world’s first EHV transmission line project to cross high altitude areas. As part of the project, there are about 209 90-meter-high wind turbines waiting to be installed at the construction site of the 1,300 MW project in Hainan Prefecture, Qinghai. According to the project leader Zhang Fenghua: “Regardless of the wind and rain, it can be lifted in one day under the normal circumstances“, but in the end, the time can be reduced to only about 13 hours.
