Kathak (Hindi: कथक, Urdu: کتھک) is one of the eight major forms of Indian classical dance.[1] The origin of Kathak is traditionally attributed to the traveling bards of ancient northern India known as Kathakars or storytellers. Of the 8 classical dance forms in India, Kathak is the only one that comes from the northern part of India and is an amalgamation of three performing arts- music, dance, and drama.
