Lvov-Sandomierz Offensive

It is hard to believe now that in the summer of 1944 fierce combat raged in western Ukraine/southeast Poland during the Lvov-Sandomierz offensive in July-August, 1944. Although it was a critical operation of the Second World War, it is hardly known about in the west today. The combat took place in the rural countryside of Eastern Europe, which today is peaceful and quiet with little to no reminder of what happened in 1944. The song is an old Polish folk song from the Carpathian region of southern Poland, which is not too far from where this combat took place.
