Phèdre - Helen Mirren - Dominic Cooper - Jean Racine - National Theatre Live - ENG - 2009 - 4K
Shakespeare & Racine Series - Phèdre is a French dramatic tragedy in five acts written in alexandrine verse by Jean Racine (1639-1699), first performed in 1677 at the theatre of the Hôtel de Bourgogne in Paris.
Dame Helen found her “inner Phèdre“ and shared with us powerfully the full essence of Racine’s heroic lover, yet also viciously self-lacerating, capable of being rhapsodic, delicate, hysterically imploring, tyrannically possessive, haunted and ultimately quavery and spectral.
