Indian EAM Jaishankar Hits Back at UN’s Comments on “Fairness“ of Elections in India Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar hit back at the United Nations after one of its officials commented that elections in India should be “free and fair“. The spokesperson for the UN Secretary General was asked a question about the “political unrest“ India in in wake of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest. The UN official stressed the importance of protecting everyone’s rights. Jaishankar was also asked about India’s ties with its neighbouring countries. He said India’s ties with its neighbours have improved than what it was a decade ago. Jaishankar added that the only two countries India has bitter ties with are Pakistan and China. --- S.
