Oda Slobodskaya sings ’Reminiscences’

The great Russian Soprano Oda Slobodskaya, 1880-1970, studied at the Conservatoire in St Petersburg with Natalia Iretskaya, a pupil of Pauline Viardot. She left Russia as principal soprano in Fyodor Chaliapin’s company and later settled in England. This is the first of three Russian Folk Songs collected by Rimsky-Korsakov and arranged by Ippolitov-Ivanov. The pianist is Ivor Newton.
