The Asaro Mudmen

The final tribe I visited on this adventure to Papua New Guinea is truly unlike any other. They are bizarre, creepy, and utterly fascinating. Turn up the volume, as I present to Asaro Mudmen. Many years ago this tribe was arracked by an enemy tribe and forced to flee into the nearby Asaro River. They waited until dusk before attempting to escape. The enemy saw them rise from the muddy banks covered in mud and thought they were spirits. Most tribes in Papua New Guinea are very afraid of spirits, so the enemy fled in fear, the Asaro escaped, and the Mudmen were born.
