Palu Sa-iring As my dearest Mommy often said - “Traditional Dance helps to keep the culture alive and it should be shared and taught to the younger generations. It is also the way one will learn to respect, gain knowledge and give importance to our traditions and norms. Let us tell others what are the stories behind our dance.” To celebrate her beliefs and her wonderful life I have created “Palu Sa-Iring.” A celebration of dance among friends beating small drums called kompang. A traditional drum, hand-played in groups using interlocking movements to produce various composite rhythms with glorious dance movements with a touch of modern contemporary choreography. DiDance was incorporated in 1996 by Zaridah Abdul Mallik primarily as a centre dedicated to preserving the traditional Malay art forms especially in dance and music.
