Mizoguchi-ha Itto-ryu Kenjutsu - 42nd Japanese Kobudo Demonstration (2019)

Naganuma Noriaki Sensei and his students demonstrating Mizoguchi Haito-ryu Kenjutsu during the 42nd Nihon Kobudo Embutaikai held at the Nippon Budokan on February 3rd, 2019. The event also commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai. Mizoguchi-ha Itto-ryu Kenjutsu was founded in the early Edo period (ca. 1630) by Mizoguchi Jingozaemon Masanori, who was a student of Ono-ha Itto-ryu’s second grand master, Ono Jiroemon Tadatsune. The curriculum of the school consists of five long sword techniques and three short sword techniques, all with an “omote“ (outer, surface) and “ura“ (inner / more sophisticated) version.
