Four ways a charmer, in fact —as a performer, a composer, an arranger, and a conductor. Heretofore, Babe’s fame has been confined to the virtuoso instrumental field. His remarkable ability with the tenor sax has produced a most colorful career: since the age of sixteen, he’s played with the orchestras of Red Nichols, Russ Columbo, the Columbia Broadcasting System, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and both the Dorsey brothers, to name only a few. More recently, he’s enjoyed the enviable position of being the most sought-after tenor saxist in Hollywood’s flourishing free-lance market.
