Folies En Parade (1935)

Titles read: ’Now we are taking you over to the PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE, London, for a topical glance at - ’FOLIES en PARADE’. High angle view of dance duo Alberta Mansfield and George Lamar in the last section of their number. She wears a long ruffled dress and he wears a suit. Chorus girls standing around them wear floaty dresses and hold open umbrellas. We hear the audience applauding as they take their bow. We then see comedian Ronald Frankau and Renee Roberts as ’Albert and Mary’ - a couple dressed in Victorian costume. Frankau bends down on one knee beside his Penny Farthing bicycle and sings to Renee about wanting to marry her because he loves her blue lips and ruby eyes. She sings back that she wants him to talk to her father. Shots are intercut during this, showing chorus girls waiting in the wings and men at work backstage.
