Shirone Ōtako Gassen (Shirone Giant Kite Battle) is a kite festival that Shirone region and Ajikata region in Niigata prefecture hold every year in early June. Each team stay on the opposite side of the river, fly and fight their kites against each other until the battle ends as the kite’s string gets finally cut.
