Lord Mayor’s Show (1916)

Lord Mayor’s Show. London Huge grand parade. Since it’s during World War One; of course there is much militarism in it. All kinds of stuff. Guards on horseback; then infantrymen — Colonial contingent. A captured German Fokker aeroplane is pulled by in 2 pieces. Cannons. Scotsmen with bagpipes. A military brass band. Royal Navy masses of them. Pan over to balcony of the Law Courts; from where wounded soldiers are watching the parade; also; there’s a cameraman in the corner of the balcony. Gilded coach; pulled by 6 horses; stops. Here’s the part with the bizarre medieval costumes and props; the pomp; traditional. Out of the coach come guys with elaborate robes and giant sceptres.
