After decades of conflict among the Yayoi Japanese, Yayoi kingdoms banded together to acknowledged the legendary shaman Queen Himiko as their leader, and thus the kingdom of Yamatai was born. Queen Himiko was a shaman. The people believed she ruled Yamatai with magic and sorcery. This video discusses the critical role of religion in Yamatai and Yayoi society.
