For Fans of: Aeon, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Entombed, Carcass, Undeath, Fear Factory, etc. Follow Annihilation Text: #annihilationtext #theorder #deathmetal #canadianmetal #freemetal #vhsdeathmetal CANADIAN DEATH METAL REBORN Our upbringing involved strong influences from classic death metal bands such as Morbid Angel, Carcass, Entombed, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus and Immolation, as well as other heavier metal acts like Fear Factory and Slipknot, while paying attention to the giants that built upon the classic formula like Aeon, Origin and Warfather, and up-and-comers like Undeath and 200 Stab Wounds. From 2006 to 2010 or so, the original lineup was primarily a live act, being chosen to open for a lot of big name death metal bands who played in our city (Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, Muspellheim, Augury and Martyr to name a few). We released a demo album in 2007 called “Defamation Manifesto“ (free on our Bandcamp page and available on most popular streaming music sites). After a few good years of good times and fun shows, the band dissolved as several members relocated. From the ashes of that version of Annihilation Text was born The Okhrana (CAN), which kept some of the members together for a couple of years until the act disbanded in 2012. 10 years later, the Annihilation Text machine is back albeit in a more limited form but as blasphemous as ever. Reformed as a recording-only “for fun“ project, 2022 sees Annihilation Text founder/main songwriter and guitarist Steve Hoier back in action with original vocalist Cory Gauthier and newcomer Lee Arnone (Guitars; Immortal Possession, ex-Headcramp) entering into the fold. The only goal for this band project is to spend our free time writing and recording new music, starting with a new album of songs entitled “The Order“, which is set to debut for free on Bandcamp on July 29, 2022.
