Ombra mai fu, composed by Handel (1685-1759), is an aria sung in the first act of the opera ’Serse’. Originally intended for castrato, it is now mainly sung by soprano and is also entitled Handel’s ‘Largo’, whose beautiful melody is often performed on violin and other instruments. In Japan, soprano Kathleen Battle sang this song in a whisky commercial, making it widely known to non-classical music fans. This time, with the cooperation of the shrine, we were able to shoot the video at the shrine in Japan.
