Homicide 260 W 23rd Pl Chicago IL 2021-12-07

Occurred in Chicago’s Chinatown, at 260 W 23rd Pl, Chicago, IL on December 7th, 2021 at 12:30 PM. A 71-year-old Asian American man was walking to the store to get a newspaper when a car pulled up near him, and an occupant opened fire with a handgun. The victim was hit and fell to the ground. The suspect then got out of the car and shot the victim multiple times. The victim was shot seven times in the head. The crime occurred across the street from John C. Haines Elementary School. There were children inside the school at the time. The victim was rushed to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect was arrested. He has not been identified. A weapon was also recovered. The suspect is in his 20s and has a criminal record.
