New Mexico wildfire: Rapidly growing blazes force evacuation of Sierra Blanca mountain town

A rapidly growing wildfire has forced the evacuation of a town in New Mexico on Tuesday, according to local officials. The South Fork fire was first detected on Monday west of Ruidoso and has since grown to over 1,989 hectares. “Please do not try to gather belongings or protect your home. GO NOW,” authorities posted in a Facebook message. Ruidoso is a town of 7,000 in the Sierra Blanca mountain range.
