Whiffling Geese in Slow Motion

Whiffling geese filmed for the first time with a high-speed camera. Nice article explaining this behavior can be found here: I think geese do this just for fun, this was filmed in a nature reserve where there’s no hunting at all, the weather was nice with very little wind and you can see that the geese first gain some height before turned upside down so I don’t think it is a way to descend more rapidly. 2012’s challenge will be to get a whiffling goose in a full frame video; that’s gonna be difficult! The complete video can be found here: (Beware: duration is a boring 3:47 min instead of ). Another whiffling geese video: Camera used: VisionResearch Phantom V710.
