ICRC does not have answers for Palestinians in ‘devastating’ situation

Speaking to Al Jazeera in Occupied East Jerusalem, Synenko said the accounts of her colleagues in Gaza are “extremely heartbreaking”. “Yesterday when they were on the way to distribute medical supplies, they saw thousands of people on the road – handicapped people on wheelchairs, elderly, children,” she said. “These people are desperate. They kept asking, ‘are we safe? Is there shelter for us? Where can we find food? Where can we find water?’ “For us, as human[itarian] personnel, we didn’t have answers to these questions and this is devastating to be there and witnessing these massive needs and not having enough of a response to help these people.” Al Jazeera’s correspondents Hani Mahmoud joins us from Khan Younis inside the Gaza Strip for the latest updates on Gaza and Sara Khairat joins us from Occupied East Jerusalem to talk more about the aid convoy.
