Trainhopping the Moffat Tunnel - Denver to Grand Junction

Riding a BNSF train across the Rocky Mountains on the Rio Grande Moffat Tunnel Route. I first rode this line in early April, 2019 but unfortunately went through the tunnel district in the dark. This time around I’m joined by @Dancer and through a rare set of events owing to a lack of an available train crew the previous afternoon, we enjoyed a full day ride across the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision. This is by far the most scenic stretch of track in the United States, and the beauty of the Rockies really shines in the reflection of fresh snowfall. 00:00:00 Prospect Junction 00:43 Catching from Denver 03:40 Little Ten Curve 06:06 Big Ten Curve 09:05 Coal Creek Canyon 10:40 Plain 11:35 Up the face of the Rockies 24:21 Crescent 25:23 Tunnels 19-25 33:05 Railfan cameo 33:27 Pinecliff 38:05 Meet at Rollinsville 39:29 Up the pass 40:38 Switching rides at Tolland 42:11 Meeting Amtrak 44:46 East Portal Siding 45:36 The Moffat Tunnel 46:21 Winter Park Resort 4
