1942 Japan хроника WW II SURRENDER OF AMERICANS & WORK CAMP 24944

This original Japanese newsreel apparently dates to 1942, and shows Japanese Imperial Army and Navy forces on the move in the Pacific. The first part of the newsreel either has no soundtrack or the soundtrack was damaged; a later portion has sound. Some of the segments include Japanese forces accepting the surrender of American and Philippine troops at the 18 minute mark. General Jonathan M. Wainwright is seen at the 31:29 mark, along with other captured American military leaders. A work camp for Allied prisoners is seen as well. Japanese newsreels from WWII are rare, since most of the nation’s newsreel archive burned in the firebombings of 1944-45. We would welcome a translation of this film so we could learn more about its content.
