The Lane Brothers - Boppin’ in a Sack (1958)

Charted at #53 on Cash Box Top Singles chart in May 1958. This group’s only Hot 100 entry occurred the previous year when their version of “Marianne“ hit #64. The sack dress was a style of dress popular at the time. It pretty much looked like a sack and did not taper in at the waist. A few other anti-sack dress songs were released around the same time. The EP pictured was released the year previous to this recording. Written by Cy Coben and Bob Farris. The other side of this single is “Somebody Sweet“.
