Athens - 50th anniversary of the 17 November student uprising in Greece

More than 25,000 people marched through central Athens on Friday to mark the 50th anniversary of a pro-democracy student uprising that was violently put down by the military dictatorship ruling Greece in 1973. As every year, the march started in front of the Polytechnic University and most of the participants carried Palestinian flags and banners with messages calling on Israel to end its attacks on Palestine, while chanting slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine“.
