How to protect and not to divide property in divorce

Not to divide an apartment or house during a divorce in Russia, you should enter into a prenuptial agreement that establishes separate property regime, or states a certain apartment will belong to you if the marriage ends. If the apartment was purchased with one of the spouse’s money (and, what’s important, he/she can prove it), in a divorce that spouse will get the entire apartment. Let me remind you that you don’t need to divide the property that was bought before you get married, that was inherited or got as a gift. Note that repairs will be also taken in account by the court. Suppose the husband has an apartment that he was inherited, and the wife, by both spouses’ consent, put up her own money for its repair, that is, made permanent improvements, and significantly increased the cost of the dwelling.
