Bob Dylan - Mr. Tambourine Man (FIRST EVER RECORDING 1964)

This is one of the most historical tracks I’ve ever uploaded. It was recorded at folksinger Eric von Schmidt’s home in Sarasota, FL in early May. It is believed Dylan began writing the song in early 1964 after attending Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and he completed it in late April. Thus, he would’ve played it at von Schmidt’s home just weeks — perhaps even days — upon completion. Small variations in the lyrics can be heard. Dylan debuted “Mr. Tambourine Man“ to the public on May 17. This track was released in only 100 copies, on the “50th Anniversary Collection: 1964,“ which is rather unfortunate since many can’t listen to these rare gems. But here is this one, and there will be more rare 1964 tracks to come. The last photograph is of Bob circa 1962 with Eric von Schmidt (on the right with the mandolin) and Richard Fariña (on the left), another folksinger and also Joan Baez’s brother-in-law. Fariña died in a tragic motorcycle accident soon aft
