🆘USA! Schools are closed! Traffic ban! Snowdrifts are consuming Minnesota turning it north!

Authorities issued a warning for parts of southwestern Minnesota as the winter storm continued to bring a winter mixture of rainfall to the southern two-thirds of the state. The National Weather Service reported thunderstorms and sleet at Albert Lea and Wasek. Authorities responded to numerous accidents and deviations in southern Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s travel ban recommendation remained in place for six counties “due to heavy snowfall and high winds that reduced visibility.“ To the west, South Dakota authorities closed some highways. A combination of heavy snowfall, freezing rain and gusty winds has raised concerns about power outages in southern Minnesota. Universities and colleges in southwest Minnesota have canceled classes and in-person events.
