Egyptian Authorities are refusing to let US nationals leave Gaza unless the US forces Israel to accept the Rafah Border Crossing be a designated aid crossing where Egyptian and International Aid can be brought to Gaza. The situation is clear. No aid allowed to pass = No US or European foreigner can leave. This is a massive pressure on Western leaders, where, simply, they can choose to let the Palestinian people live and receive aid, or they can watch their own citizens be bombed by their greatest ally.
