Heather Duke’s character development is so underappreciated- it doesn’t excuse her actions, but it is still interesting. Duke undergoes so much abuse by Chandler (in the movie they go as far as to suggest that she is the source of her eating disorder) because for whatever reason, Chandler considers Duke to be the weakest Heather. However, as much as Duke hates Chandler, she desperately seeks out her approval- so imagine Duke’s utter frustration when Veronica (the exact opposite of what a usual Heather is like) is met with immediate acceptance by Chandler.
