Brazil: Thousands oppose Bolsonaro’s pension plan in Sao Paulo

Thousands of people took to the streets of Sao Paulo on Friday, to protest against far-right President Jair Bolsonaro’s proposed overhaul of the pension system. Protesters filled the Avenida Paulista with flags and banners, chanting slogans and carrying fake coffins symbolising the death of the reform. Bolsonaro’s pension bill, which was presented to Congress in February, includes plans to address the country’s pension deficit by raising taxes, delaying retirements and creating individual saving accounts.
