We put a lot of holes in our cabin over the course of a few days. Sixteen feet of holes, to be precise (). That’s a whole lot of holes! This was one of the first things we said we’d do when we walked into the cabin years ago and today it’s finally happening. It’s always nerve-wracking to make a large cosmetic and structural change to a building, because there are so many variables: what if you don’t like it? What if it changes the temperature too drastically? Unlike the operating system, these windows don’t have an undo button! If you have old windows in your house and are considering upgrading or replacing them, we can’t recommend it enough because windows have come a long way in 16 years (about the last time ours were replaced). We also have a brand new folding door, which lets in so much fresh air, we can’t stop staring through it and feeling the nice breeze. Somehow all these windows, fresh air and light makes even black-fly season less annoying 😊 It’s amazing how a few windows in our cabin really makes us feel like we’re looking through the back of our open van again. How did we get here? In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining.
