Introductory intertitle reads: “If there’s one thing a Japanese Jack Tar loves, it’s trying out his speed and skill on the other fellow - this way.“ L/S of two Japanese sailors dressed in traditional robes wielding large sticks. They are standing on board a boat which has a Japanese flag flying. The men walk around each other slowly. It is rather like a traditional Samurai warriors ceremonial performance. “Sometimes the argument isn’t confined to two - others are allowed to join in.“ M/S of six men fighting - they wear fencing style masks - with wire visors. This time the sticks make contact with each other. It looks quite violent. The men make grunting and screaming noises. The bout ends with the men bowing to each other. “Bayonet drill, too, has its devotees - “ The men stand on deck with bayonets - they still wear the Samurai style visors.
