The Zapatistas are a free-form social movement based in the Lacandon Jungle, Chiapas, Mexico, formed in opposition to the military occupation of their land in 1994. With the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Mexícan government began clearing villages in Chiapas to make room for beef cattle.
