There are many myths about the Computer Science (CS) field, from “you have to be good at Math to study CS“ to “programming is for boys“. In observance of Women’s History Month, we invite you to join us for a conversation about well-known female scientists and some of the various misconceptions Samah Majadla has encountered in her 10 years of studying, teaching, and working in the CS field. She will also share some valuable lessons that she has learned throughout her journey.
About the speaker: Samah Majadla found her way to her current role as Product Manager for Tanzu Platform Services at VMware by way of a journey in software development and software education. She is passionate about equity, representation, and accessibility in education, the tech industry, and beyond. She came to the United States in 2009 to attend Mount Holyoke College, graduating in 2013 with a B.A. in Computer Science and Art; in 2018 she received her M.S. in Computer Science from Eastern Michigan University.
