Making artificial eyes at Ministry of Pensions Optical Depot. London. M/S of a woman bringing out a tray of artificial eyes. M/S of a line of women making the eyes in workshop. C/U as tube of optical glass is melted over glass jet then blown into bulb. C/U as pupil and iris are worked in with coloured glass and treated with clear crystal, artificial blood vessels are added. M/S as back is shaped to fit the eye socket and the eye is moulded to the required shape. M/S as it is placed in crucible with heated wood ash. C/U of 3 finished eyes in a row.
