Well, according to some hypotheses, Venus could host bacterial life among the clouds in its upper atmosphere. Europa and Enceladus could be teeming with life in their internal oceans of liquid water. Even the lakes of liquid hydrocarbons on Titan offer some intriguing possibilities for the search for exotic life. But in this respect, despite the recurring disappointments, Mars remains the planetary environment to which we direct our greatest expectations. A well-earned confidence? Only partly, unfortunately. But this does not prevent us from formulating hypotheses in an attempt to rationalize the problem.
