De Zaanse band Roberto Jacketti & The Scooters werd in 1980 opgericht door middelbare scholieren Robert Jak, Rob Blanchemanche, Jeroen Booy en Erik van der Hoff. De bandnaam ontstond uit Jaks voorliefde voor Italië. De jongens ‘veritaliaansten’ de naam van de toetsenist tot Roberto Jacketti en kozen daarna voor het populairste Italiaanse vervoersmiddel: de scooter!
