This “green treasure” is being threatened more and more by deforestation and by oil companies. Preserving the forest’s wealth is a vital task. Remigio is a Quichua Indian with profound knowledge of the forest. He and his wife Angelika, a Swiss biologist, founded the Amazoonico animal refuge ten years ago, on the banks of the Rio Arajuano.
