As seen live on and During an unusual southerly approach to St Maarten SXM, an Air France A330 (AF498 from Paris CDG) called “mayday mayday mayday“ for a strong odor in the cabin. Air traffic control immediately gave the flight priority and cleared them for landing on runway 10. The aircraft landed safely a few minutes later. During runway taxi, pilot reported that the odor had improved significantly. Flight proceeded to the gate without further incident.
