Armed police close the channel as HMS Queen Elizabeth, flagship aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy, returns to Portsmouth after deployment to the United States. ⚓️ HMS Queen Elizabeth deployed to Norfolk Naval Base, Virginia. From there the Queen Elizabeth-class carrier trained with the US Navy and hosted the Atlantic Future Forum in New York City. Aircraft departed the carrier prior to the ship coming into port, as is standard practice. Security is provided by the Ministry of Defence Police, who ensure no other vessels or persons come near. Tugs from Serco assist the boat into the base.
