NES Longplay [610] Mortal Kombat II Special (Unlicensed)
Played by: Reinc
An unlicensed Mortal Kombat II port for the NES.
The battle system was completely changed, all characters have three special moves (Shang Tsung has two, one of which is a hidden one), almost all of these moves are performed by pressing down-forward-A, down-back-B and back-back-B. Despite having a simple battle system, this game is one of the best fightings on NES, eclipsed only by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters. It also has the smartest and most aggressive AI I’ve ever seen in any NES fighting game.
Fun features include: breakdancing forward teleport punching Scorpion (coincidence?), Shao Kahn doing axel jumps, biting Reptile and Sub-Zero who is more overpowered than he ever was, also everything about Goro.
Un-fun features: cheating AI.
Played on Very Hard difficulty. Since there is no storyline, and the battle system is simple, and the AI is very good at using all specials, I only make a single run with (midget Kintaro) Goro, whose “truck mode“ is the only (hidden) special that the AI never uses. -
