Tommy Bolin Band - Albany, NY 9/20/76. (Digitally restored )
Its September 20, 1976. The Tommy Bolin Band is playing their third gig after bringing in Jimmy Haslip and Johnnie Bolin on bass and drums. It is the second consecutive night opening for Blue Oyster Cult at the Albany Palace Theatre, and the band turns in one of the best shows ever by this lineup. Tight, crisp and vibrant with particularly accurate guitar solos. At Jazz City in New Orleans on November 16 the lineup featured Mark Craney on drums and Max Gronenthal on keyboards and vocals. The arrangements here are loose and adventurous, with highlights not heard in any other Tommy Bolin Band performance, including an incendiary solo on Post Toastee that features one of Tommys most exciting Echoplex workouts ever recorded. Songs from Albany include Teaser, People, People, You Told Me That You Loved Me, Wild Dogs, Band Intros, Shake the Devil and Post Toastee. Songs from New Orleans include Wild Dogs, Shake the Devil and Post Toastee.
