The Real Thing - ’The Crime Of Love [Un Poco Loco Latin Instrumental Mix]’ (1989)
British soul group The Real Thing formed in the 1970s and enjoyed a string of hits, including UK #1, ’You To Me Are Everything’. Once the hits started to dry up into the 1980s, remixes of their biggest hits, such as ’Can’t Get By Without You’ and ’Can You Feel The Force’, were commissioned and 1986 saw them return to the UK top 10. However, the follow-up new material and even a cover of ’I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)’, originally a hit for The Four Tops on Motown, were far less successful. ’The Crime Of Love’ was one such release, a very strong garage house track, arriving on the RCA label in 1989. It was their last release of the 1980s. No versions of this track appear anywhere else online that I can find, so here is the excellent dub mix. I really love this, very Shep Pettibone in style? Producer David James also worked with Glen Goldsmith, Michelle Gayle and Louise, whilst remixer Paul Witts has tinkered with Paula Abdul, Tongue ’N’ Cheek and Lisa Stansfield.
