If you’re joining a friend who lives far away, you’ll need to host a server, which can be a more complicated process than using Minecraft LAN. The link to this video is above. Different network types can also cause problems, so be sure to check that you’re both using the same type of connection. Make sure you’re also on the same Minecraft version as your friend, and that the host’s game is open to LAN before you join the LAN server. The most common issue with joining a Lan server in Minecraft is your computer’s firewall settings.
