An evening on the BNSF Hereford Sub: July 23, 2024

Got an invite for some evening railfanning from my friend John as he was in Amarillo for work. We hung out in the Canyon area for a few hours and saw the following trains. 0:00 - A loaded grain train bound for the White Energy Ethanol plant in Joel, TX snakes through the cut at Buffalo Bowl. 2:35 - A long manifest running from Kansas City’s Argentine Yard to Belen, NM came through about 15 minutes after the grain train. 5:49 - We relocated to a spot I have long wanted to shoot, but had never taken the time to, A sign announcing Canyon as a Texas Mainstreet City, where we would catch a combined intermodal train running to Thenard, CA. It was running on the yellows of the KCKBEL hence the slower speeds. 12:38 - The train passing the combo intermodal had a nice surprise, 25th Anniversary unit 6075 leading so we went back to Buffalo Stadium Rd to capture it.
